Arrowing...

If you have been in UNIBEN For a year, the term 'arrow' should be pretty familiar. It means 'yabbing' that's a pidgin English word for mockery. Arrowing is a norm in UNIBEN and the major spot where it takes place is the hall3 hall2 road that leads to June 12. Sometimes, the hall3 Generator house road can be an arrow location. Arrowing involves the hall3 boys making a mockery of students passing by, or a mockery of the hall2 girls opposite them, the latter usually results in replies from the females, which indefinitely leads to lots of chants and retaliation. When hall3 guys and hall2 girls get into the arrow mode, countless unproductive hours pass with insults and counter insults thrown back and forth. "Bobbi seller! Bobbi seller! Bobbi seller" a chant that could be heard from the guys. "P***y licker p***y licker p***y licker" another possible chant that could be heard from the girls.

When the hall3 boys decide to face the passersby , different insults are hurled at the innocent people. One can hear things like "see as him face be, how many girls you Don carry for Uniben? " "see that one dey form say na blackberry she dey use, abeg drop dat Asha joor, no dey use two hand hol am" "dat geh wey Don do all the boys for Uniben! "

The best response for this insults is known to be ignorance. It's just best to ignore the jobless boys, whether the insults hurt or not and move on (freshers take note). The best days for Arrowing are usually Saturdays and Sundays, but it could start spontaneously anyday.

My first arrow experience was in 100level, as I wobbled in my 4inch heel on my way to Winner's fellowship along the hall3 hall2 path. I remember hearing "who Don short Don short, no dey suffer urself aunty" lmao! I didn't find it funny then, but I managed to ignore them without being told. I guess I took their advice, and now when I think about the statement, I usually laugh my ass off. I personally make every effort to avoid that route once Arrowing is going on, or I simply block my ears with my earpiece.
