UNIBEN Partners Lincoln University To Roll Out e-Class Learning

The University of Benin has taken another giant step in its academic curricular, introducing electronic education programme, otherwise known as e-class learning. This makes UNIBEN the first university in Nigeria to commence electronic education programme initiative.

UNIBEN, the first university in Nigeria to commence such educational programme, is partnering with Lincoln University, USA, with 80 students drawn from the Faculty of Agriculture and Botany of the institution in a direct lecture and interaction with lecturers of Lincoln University. The E-Don Programme Coordinator, Idonuagbe Akogun, who is also the facilitator of the electronic education initiative, said the programme was set up to create and sustain international linkages between developed countries and developing ones through their institutions of learning.

According to him, "Our vision is to carve out a synergy where schools across the world can interact in real time via cyber and virtual avenues." creating a way for students to have first hand learning experience with their peers and foreign faculties from different countries." He disclosed that efforts were being made with the Federal Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission (NUC) and other public and private agencies to explore ways of making the programme nationwide.
