Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters degree and Ph.D in the various Faculties/Schools/Institutes of the University of Benin.

A. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) A credit pass in Maths and English is required.

II. Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.

III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3^rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.

IV. Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.

V. A candidate applying for the Ph.D in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade 'B' average in the Masters degree.

VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master's degree from any other University who in his/her Master's study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade 'B'.

Transcripts

Candidates should request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to the "Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies", to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication.

Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

Referees Reports

Candidates should request their referees to mail reports on them directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available.

Admission Requirements:

(a) Master of Science (M.Sc) Programme:

To be admitted into the degree of Master of Science programme, a candidate shall hold:

(i) A good honours degree in Agriculture with option in Animal Science with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin;

(b) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme:

To qualify for admission into the Ph.D. programme, a candidate must hold a Master degree (by thesis) in Animal Science, Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition, Food Science and technology from the University of Benin or any other University approved by the Senate of University of Benin. Candidates with Master by Project in Animal Science or related area of study will be admitted subject to their having minimum average score of 60 percent.

Duration of Programmes:

(a) M.Sc.: Minimum of 24 (twenty-four) months and a maximum of 48 (forty-eight) calendar months for full-time while part-time shall be twice the period for the full-time. The conversion from part-time to full-time and vice-versa may be permitted.

(b) Ph.D programme:

(i) Full-Time 6-10 semesters

A student who fails to submit his or her thesis within seven calendar years (84 calendar months) from the date of initial registration for the Ph.D. degree shall be asked to withdraw from the programme. However, under special circumstances, the Senate on the recommendation of the School of Postgraduate Studies after consulting with the Supervisor may grant extension of time.

(a) M.Sc.:The candidate must accumulate a minimum of 30 credit unit including six (6) unit of supervised Research projects and three (3) of Seminar. The candidate shall take and pass all required courses with an average of C grade (at least 50%) each. In addition, the candidate must carry out an independent Research and submit a thesis, which must be defended orally before an External Examiner.

(b) Ph.D.: To qualify for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Animal Science,

(i) The Candidate shall take courses of twelve (12) Credit units in the relevant areas from among the listed courses. The courses must be passed with an average grade of not less than C.

(ii) After successfully completing twelve (12) credit units from the coursework, Candidate shall be required to defend his/her Research proposal in the subject to the Departmental Postgraduate Committee.

(iii) The candidate shall also be required to present a Seminar at the completion of his/her Research work. This Seminar shall not be Credit earning.

(iv) The candidate must successfully complete and orally defend the Thesis write up in accordance with stipulated University regulations on the subject.

The format and submission of Thesis shall be in conformity with guideline laid down by the School of Postgraduate Studies.

DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE

In addition to the general regulations and guidelines on admission, a degree of Master candidate shall hold a good honours degree in:

(i) Agriculture of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate.

(ii) The Biological Sciences of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by Senate.

(b) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Crop Science:

To qualify for admission into the Ph.D programme, a candidate must hold a Masters Degree of the University of Benin or any other University recognized and approved by Senate, in any of the disciplines indicated in (a) above. In addition, the candidate must have a weighted average of 60%.

In addition to the general regulations and guidelines on admission, a candidate shall:

i) Hold a good degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Fisheries of the University of Benin or any University recognized by Senate or

ii) Hold a good degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Agriculture, Zoology or related field of the University of Benin or any University recognized by Senate.

Such candidates may be required by the Departmental Postgraduate Advisory Committee to make up possible undergraduate deficiencies by taking and passing such courses without credit.

(b) Ph.D Programmes:

A candidate must possess one of the following:

i) M.Phil Degree in Fisheries or other related field of study of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the University of Benin Senate.

ii) M.Sc. Degree in Fisheries or other related fields of study of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the University of Benin Senate. Such candidates must have a minimum of B average in courses chosen, equivalent to a weighted average of 60% or CGPA of 3.50 minimum on a 50 point scale.

Duration of Programmes:

M.Sc:The duration for the programme shall be a minimum of twelve (12) calendar months and a maximum of forty-eight (48) calendar month.

Ph.D: The duration for the programme shall be a minimum of thirty six (36) calendar months for full time while part time is sixty (60) Calendar months Minimum and a maximum of eighty four (84) calendar month.

Any candidate whose progress is considered to be unsatisfactory in any subsequent session shall be advised to withdraw from the programme.

In addition to the general regulations and guidelines on admission, a candidate shall possess a minimum of:

(i) At least Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) in Forestry and/or Wildlife or related field of Science from the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.

(ii) Application from other disciplines other than Forestry and/or Wildlife may be admitted but will be required to take and pass remedial courses at the undergraduate or Master Level. Such remedial courses shall be non-credit earning. Also candidates with Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry and/or Wildlife related discipline from the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin may be admitted.

b. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) :

To be admitted into the Ph.D programme, the applicant must hold a Master Degree of the University of Benin or any other Institution recognized by Senate, with an average grade of 'B' in any of the discipline indicated in (a) above.

Duration of Programmes:

M.Sc.

The duration for the programme shall be a minimum of eighteen (18) calendar months and a maximum of forty-eight (48) calendar month.

Ph.D:

The duration for the programme shall be a minimum of twenty-four (24) calendar months and a maximum of seventy-two (72) calendar month.

For part-time programme, in both degrees, the duration shall be twice the normal period for the full-time programme.

Philosophy/Objective:

The objective of the grade programme shall be to provide advanced instruction in specialized fields and training methods for persons engaged in soil research.

Admission Requirements:

(a) M.Sc. Degree: To be admitted into the Degree of Master of Science programme, a candidate shall:

(i) Hold a good honours in Agriculture with a minimum of 2^nd Class Lower Division of the University of Benin or any University recognized by Senate, or

(ii) Hold a good honours degree in the related Sciences with a minimum of 2^nd Class Lower Division of the University of Benin or any University recognized by the Senate.

(iii) Students who come in with Degree outside Agriculture will be required to take remedial courses at the undergraduate level. Credit earned in such cases shall not count towards the credit requirement for the M.Sc. degree.

(b) Ph.D Degree

To qualify for admission into the Ph.D programme in Soil Science, a candidate must hold a Master Degree in Soil Science or related field of the University of Benin or any other University approved by Senate, in any of the disciplines indicated and must have a weighted average of 60% or CGPA of 3.50 minimum on a 5-pointscale.

M.Phil. Programme:

(a) A Master of Arts degree obtained from an acceptable University.

(b) A candidate who scores a minimum grade of 60% in a compulsory

Seminar paper may be permitted to proceed to the M.Phil Programme without completing the (M.A.) Programme.

Ph.D. Programme:

(a) A Master of Arts Degree in English obtained from an acceptable University.

(b) A candidate who scores a grade of a minimum of B in each of the MA. course work examinations and a minimum of B in a compulsory seminar paper may be permitted to proceed to the Ph.D. programme without completing the M.A. programme.

3. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

(A) M.A. Art History Programme

Admission into the M. A. (Art History programme is open to :

(i) Candidates who already possess the first degree in (a) Art History; (b) Any major areas of the Fine/Applied Arts and (c ) Art Education with minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.

(ii) Candidates with Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in any major areas of the Fine/Applied Arts with a minimum cumulative weighted average of 60% from a recognized University.

(iii) B. A. or B.Sc degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in: (a) Anthropology (b) African Studies, (c ) Sociology (d) History (e) Archaeology (f) Museum Studies. Candidates with deficiencies may be required to register for and pass lower course(s) from any or all of the following undergraduate Art History courses FAH 213, FAH 223, HAH 316, FAH 326, and FAH 426 as may be deemed necessary by the supervisor(s).

B. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree programme

(a) A reputable B.A. or B.F.A. in studio art with specialization in painting, sculpture, advertising, printmaking, textile/fashion design and ceramics. All candidates must show a portfolio of minimum of 25 pieces of the applicant's work which will be reviewed by the postgraduate. Sub-Committee of the Department.

(b) Candidates with H.N.D. certificates plus six years post graduation experience with Upper Credit Pass and B.Ed (Fine /Applied Arts degree with two years post-graduation experience may also be considered.

(C) Ph. D. Art History Programme

(i) The candidates must possess the degree of Master of Arts in Art History with a minimum cumulative weighted average of 60% or an M. Phil in Art History from any University recognized by University of Benin.

(ii) In Exceptional Cases, candidates with a minimum weighted average of 60% in Master of Fine Art may be considered provided that such candidates posses in addition to the MFA, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts not below Second Class Upper Division.

(iii) Candidates with M.A. (Art Education) and M.F.A.) degrees who are interested in pursuing the Ph.D degree in Art History will be made to complete M.A. Art History Programme with an average score of 50% as a remedial before entering the programme.

The candidates admitted under B(i) above may be required to take and pass the prescribed course(s) from the M.A. Art History Programme of the University of Benin, as may be deemed necessary by the Department.

Duration of Programmes

a. The M.A (Art History) and M.F.A programmes

Full Time: a minimum of 3 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters

Part time: The duration shall be twice the normal period of the full time programme. A minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.

The Ph.D (Art History and Visual Arts).

Full time: A minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters

Part time: A minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters

The School of Postgraduate Studies may approve an extension where necessary.

Admission Requirements:

(a) M.Phil Programme:

The admission requirements are the same as the general requirements for admission into higher degree programmes of the University of Benin. Candidates for the M.Phil programme are expected to pass an M.A. Theatre Arts with an average of between 50-59%. Also candidates with an M.A. degree in Art related Discipline like English and Literature, Mass Communication, French, History and other courses in humanities may be admitted but will be required to take some prescribed courses in Theatre Arts at the M.A. level to remedy their deficiencies.

(b) Ph.D. Programme:

Candidates seeking admission into the Ph.D. Programme in Theatre Arts must have an M.A. degree in Theatre Arts with an overall average of 60% or a B or an M.Phil degree in Theatre Arts.

Duration of Programme:

(a) The Postgraduate Diploma programme Full-Time shall be for twelve calendar months except for the Part-time which shall be for at least 3 semesters and at most 6 semesters. Candidates would be expected to register for and pass a minimum of 35 credits. The courses are taught across two semesters and a project done under supervision shall be submitted at the end. For the Part-Time, courses are taught across three semesters with a project at the end.

(b) The M.A. programme shall be for 2 semesters. During this period, candidates would be expected to register for and pass a minimum of 40 credits. The courses are taught across two semesters and a dissertation done under proper supervision shall be submitted at the end. A full time programme shall not exceed a maximum of twenty-four months. Candidates must also make a mandatory 75% attendance. The Part Time M.A. programme would be taught across three semesters and a properly supervised project submitted at the end of the programme. The Part-Time programme shall not exceed a maximum of 8 semesters.

Admission Requirements:

(a) Master of Arts (M.A.) in French programmes.

A good Bachelor's degree in French or its equivalent. Candidates who obtain a minimum of 2^nd Class Lower Division from other Universities shall be required to produce their academic transcripts for screening.

(b) Master of Arts (M.A.) in Translation programme:

A good Bachelor's degree or its equivalent. There must be evidence that the candidate has had sufficient training in translation. Candidates from other universities must produce their transcripts for screening.

Admission to the Ph.D. programme will depend strictly on the possession of a Master degree in a relevant discipline. Candidate must have a weighted average of 60% or CGPA of 3.5 minimum on a 5-point scale.

Duration of Programmes:

(a) Master of Arts (M.A.) in French programme:

(i) 2 semesters for full-time students.

(ii) 4 semesters for part-time students.

(b) Master of Arts (M.A.) in Translation Studies:

(i) 2 semesters for full time students

The period will normally be for a period of 4 semesters but candidates are allowed a maximum of seven years.

2. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in History

Admission Requirements:

1. M.A. History:

A good Bachelor's Degree (a minimum of Second Class, Lower Division with a weighted degree average 55% or GPA if 3.3 on scale 5.0 in History from the University of Benin or any other recognized University. Candidates with a degree in Education with History as the major area or a degree in other disciplines related to History may be considered for admission provided that they meet the above requirements. Such candidates will be required to take make-up courses in History as may be determined by the Department.

Duration of Programme:

The programme runs sessionally and full-time for a minimum of 2 semesters.

2.(a) MIHD: (Full-Time)

Admission Requirements:

A good First degree (minimum of Second Class, Lower Division) in History or relevant disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and Education. However, a candidate with a degree in an unrelated discipline but has practical experience of at least two years would be required to take prescribed remedial courses.

Duration of Programme:

The programme runs for a minimum of three semesters.

3. Ph.D. History:

Admission Requirements:

An MA in History from a recognized University, and an average of 60% in the MA examination.

Duration of Programme:

The programme runs for a minimum of 4 semesters

Admission Requirements:

Master of Arts (M.A.) in Linguistics:

A good Bachelor Degree (Second Class Lower Division or above) in Linguistics from the University of Benin or any other recognized University, or such a Degree in a cognate field deemed adequate as a basis for advanced study in Linguistics (such as in a specific language, sociology, anthropology, education, mathematics or computer science), provided that a student may be required to audit specific undergraduate courses or take special remedial courses in Linguistics in areas in which the Department considers him/her deficient. A Bachelors Degree of Second Class Lower Division may be considered for admission if the weighted Degree Average is high in this Division and if the candidate has compensatory qualifications (such as a background of specific language study or experience).

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Linguistics:

The possession of M.A. Degree in Linguistics by thesis or an M.Phil in Linguistics or a cognate discipline. The programme is for full time. All candidates shall be subjected to a departmental selection interview.

(iv) Master of Public Health Education (MPHE):

To be admitted into Master of Public Health Education programme, a candidate shall possess at least a Second Class Honours, Lower Division degree in Health Education or related areas e.g. Home Economics Education, Safety Environmental Science/Education, Biology, Microbiology etc. from a recognized University. Candidates with Third Class Honours will be considered for admission after five years cognate experience in Public Health Education practice. Admission Requirements:

To be admitted into the Master of Science Education (M.Sc (Ed.) degree programmes in Human Kinetics and Sports, a candidate shall possess at least a Second Class Honour division degree from the University of Benin or any other recognized University in any aspects of Human Kinetics and Sports.

Ph.D:

To be eligible for admission into the Ph.D programme in Health Education, the candidate shall possess a Masters degree of the University of Benin or of other recognized Universities in an area relevant to Health Education. Where the Masters degree is not directly in Health Education, the undergraduate degree must be in Health Education or Health Education with other combinations. Students admitted under this dispensation shall be required to take and pass all Faculty and Departmental courses where there are deficiencies as verifiable from their official transcripts. All such admissions shall be regarded as "conditional admission" subject to satisfying the examiners in all the deficient courses as demonstrated by minimum of 50% in each course. If the student is not able to clear all deficiencies by the end of the first year, he/she would be asked to withdraw. In addition to the above, all candidates will be required to attend oral interview before admission and have a cumulative of 60% in the Masters Degree work.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree is mainly by research geared towards preparing students for advanced research and academic career in the chosen areas of specialization. However, students who are found deficient in some areas may be required to take some taught courses. The total number of credits for such courses will normally not exceed 18 credits. Such candidates must pass a written qualifying examination before they can formally commence work on thesis/dissertation. The taught courses may be selected from one or more area of specialization.

Admission into the MBA Full-Time and Part-Time programme may be granted to persons who have obtained at least a good Bachelor's degree (that is, a minimum of Second Class Lower Division), or an HND (with not lower that Credit pass) from a recognized Polytechnic with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) or their equivalents acceptable to the University of Benin. Pre-admission screening to ensure potentiality may include a written test, post-secondary academic transcript evaluation and oral interview. A candidate with at least a Second Class Honours Upper division in Business Administration from the University of Benin or from any other recognized University may, on the recommendation of the Department of Business Administration and approval of the Postgraduate Studies, be exempted from the written test. For Part-Time applicants, preference will be given to candidates who are in gainful employment.

(a) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science (Part-Time):

Applicants must have at least a third class honours of the University of Benin or any other

recognized institution. Holders of HND with at least credit, or ACCA, ICCA, ICAN, AIB or other equivalent professional qualifications with relevant industrial experience of a minimum of two years may be considered.

Qualifying Examination:

There may be a qualifying written examination for all candidates seeking admission into the part-time postgraduate programme in Computer Science only when the number of applicants is in excess of one hundred (100). Admission will be finally determined by the performance of the candidate in this examination.

(b) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science (Full Time):

(i) Candidates for the M.Sc. programme must have at least a Second Class Lower Division, B.Sc. Hons. degree with an average GPA of 3.0 and above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Information Systems from the University of Benin or any other University of recognized standing.

(ii) Candidates with Second Class Lower Division, B.Sc (Hon) degree and above in Engineering or Mathematics or Physics with an average GPA of 3.0 and above may be considered for admission and such candidate will be required to make up for any deficiencies in their preparation by taking and passing the following undergraduate courses: CSC314, CSC313, CSC316, CSC411, CSC432 and CSC211.

This is based on a research for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months. To be eligible for admission, a candidate must have a Master's degree in Computer Science.

(d) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Computer Science:

An applicant for the PhD degree must possess an M.Sc. with a research thesis in Computer Science from the University of Benin or any other recognized institution and must have a weighted average of 60% in addition to any other criteria as determined by the Department.

The Master degree programme is open to only graduates with good first degree in Geology or Geoscience from a University recognized by the Senate. In special cases, students with lower classes of degree, but with relevant professional experience, may also be considered for admission. All students shall be assigned one or more supervisor(s) at the time of registration in their intended area of specialization. Within 9 months of registration, a Master candidate shall select a specific topic for his/her thesis/project after due consultations with his/her supervisor(s). A change of supervisor for a candidate maybe permitted only within 9 months of registration.

(b) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geology:

The Doctorate Degree Programme is open to graduates with a degree of Master of Science of Philosophy in Geology or any appropriate and related field from the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate. A candidate initially registered for the Master Degree Programme in Geology may be transferred to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in accordance with the University's postgraduate regulations and subject to satisfactory report from the candidate's supervisor(s)

Duration of Programme:

Full-Time study for the award of degree of Ph.D. in Geology shall normally last for a minimum period of 4 semesters for a candidate with a Master of Science Degree and a minimum of 18 months for a candidate with a Master of Philosophy Degree. Such candidate may be required to first undergo a prescribed preliminary course of studies of possibly up to two semesters duration and earn a minimum of 24 credit selected from the 400 level Mathematics courses. M.Phil:

A good honours degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry not lower than a Second Class Upper Division or a Master's degree in the relevant area.

Doctor of Philosophy (Pharm. D) conversion

A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree of the University of Benin or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin or any other qualification registered to practice as a Pharmacist by the Pharmacists' Council of Nigeria i.e. registered (with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria) and be practising Pharmacists.

Duration:

M.Sc:It is expected the programme will not to be less than 2 semesters and based on course work and original research work. The course work shall normally occupy not less than 25% of the prescribed time.

All candidates will take all prescribed courses and will undergo scheduled practical during the duration of the programme. A candidate who is deficient in some areas of Pharmaceutical Chemistry will be required to take pre-requisite courses during the training programme. Candidates may not be allowed to start the M.Sc programme until they have completed the pre-requisites courses satisfactorily.

Ph.D: Normally for a period not less than 6 semesters for candidates with a first degree and not less than 4 semesters for candidates with Master's degree. No formal course work will be offered. However, a candidate found deficient will be required to take the necessary courses along with the M.Sc students. Every candidate registered for the degree of Ph.D will attend and participate in workshops on research techniques and methodology by his/her field of specification offered in the department and determined by his/her supervisor. In addition, a candidate will be required to present seminars during each year of his/her study on topics chosen by him/her and approved by the supervisor.

Candidates must possess a good degree in Pharmacy, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or any other suitable qualification approved by Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Studies. Candidates who are considered deficient in some areas of Pharmacognosy will be required to undertake remedial courses from the undergraduate programme as may be deemed necessary. Candidates must pass all the remedial courses satisfactorily.

(b) Ph.D programme:

(i) Full-Time 6-10 semesters

Duration of Programme:

The programme is expected to be not less than twenty-four months for candidates with Master's degree in Pharmacognosy and is based on original research work. The time base for full-time student is minimum of 6 semeters, for the part-time a minimum of 8 semesters.

(a) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Pharmaceutical Microbiology:

Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc. Degree must satisfy the General

(i) Requirements for Admission into the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Benin. In addition, their undergraduate degree (at least a Second Class Lower Division) should be in either Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology (or a good degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Sciences (Biological Sciences (option).

(ii) Candidates with FIMLT/FMLS, plus 2 years post qualification experience, who in addition to passing a qualifying examination may be considered for admission.

(b) Master of Philosophy

Holders of Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in

Pharmaceutical Microbiology from University of Benin or any other recognised University who scored below 60% in their course work at the Masters level.

(c) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D):

An applicant for the Ph.D. degree must possess a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical with a weighted average that is not less than 50% and not up to 60% or a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of less than 3.50 on a 5-point scale.

d) Doctor of Philosophy (Pharm. D) conversion

A candidate registered for the Master's Degree programme may have his/her registration transferred to the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in accordance with the University of Benin Regulations subject to a satisfactory report from his/her supervisor(s).

Master of Science (M.Sc.) Progamme:
Candidates should possess a good University degree (not less than a Second Class Lower Division or its equivalent) in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine, Physiology, Biochemistry or Behavioral sciences. A candidate whose previous background in Pharmacology is considered inadequate by the Department (e.g first degree holders in Biochemistry, physiology) will be required to spend the first year to remedy the deficiency by taking the department's undergraduate Pharmacology courses which will be followed by a qualifying exam.

Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) Programme:

Candidates should have an M.Sc. degree in Pharmacology of the University of Benin or any other recognized University. Candidates with degrees from other Universities will be expected to make up for any deficiency in their course work.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme:
Candidates must possess an M.Sc. degree in Pharmacology with a research thesis from a recognized University and must have a weighted average of 60% or CGPA of 3.50 minimum on a 5-point scale or an M.Phil degree in Pharmacology.
